Lima is known for its punk and metal scene, and there are loads of bars you should check out.
One of the best, and most accessible, is Bar Hensley in Barranco. It’s right on the main drag in a popular area for hostels and hotels; there’s regular live music and cheap drinks.
In the center of Lima, Plaza San Martin is something of a focal point for rocker bars. Vichama Rock Bar, Nuclear Bar and several others are all within easy reach of the square. You can spend the day exploring the historic center of Lima before stopping off to watch some bands in these small venues.
Slightly further from the center is Crypto Bar Metal, which, as you might be able to tell, is a metal bar. The music is definitely heavy, and it sometimes stays open for lock-in after parties.
On the outskirts of town in the Ate district you will find La Guitarra, worth a trip when there is live music on. Check the listings before you go. On the other side of the city, Bar Hensley in Monterrico hosts larger events.
