Review: Cais de Quatro Restaurant, Luanda, Angola

Reviews / Restaurant

Cais de Quatro is one of the most highly recommended restaurants in Luanda due mostly to its breathtaking views of the Luanda Bay. The sights here are truly magnificent, though the service left something to be desired.

Like most places in Luanda the prices are exorbitant and for a restaurant supposedly focused on fine dining I was disappointed to find they couldn’t seem to find the niche here. The menu is large, to the point of being exhausting, and there didn’t seem to be many winners in terms of flavor.

I’ll admit the sushi was good, which is probably what they should spend more time focused on, but the pizza we ordered tasted like cardboard. The wine selection was extensive and what we tried was good, though the staff didn’t seem too keen on making recommendations for our meal. The waiters, while friendly, didn’t seem to be in a rush to get things done, which left us waiting for our meal for nearly an hour. To be fair, the place was incredibly busy.

If you have to visit, I recommend doing so at night so you can view the city lights reflecting off the water of the bay. Just prepare to squander a bit of your budget on so-so food.
