Despite looking like a run-down hole in the wall, Little Jerusalem surprised me by being one of, if not the best restaurant, I had the pleasure of dining at during my trip to St. Maarten.
From the outside looking in, you certainly wouldn’t expect the high-quality food coming out of the kitchen here. It’s a family-owned restaurant specializing in what can only be described as a Mediterranean-Middle Eastern fusion.
The shawarma and falafels are simply out of this world, though they take about an hour to get to you due to the sheer popularity of the place. The true delight here, though, is the staff. The owners are a jovial couple that delight in interacting with the guests and can always be found mingling in the crowd. The servers are just as great and go above and beyond when it comes to helping you decide on your meal and what to drink. They’re also happy to provide suggestions of what to do on the islands.
The meals here are surprisingly cheap, too. My appetizer, entrée and drinks cost me less than $30, which on St Maarten is definitely a steal.
