One of my all-time favorite movies s Night at the Museum. The second movie in the series is called Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and features scenes from the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. I recently visited Washington, D.C., for the first time, so you can bet the museum was a must-see on my list.

When we first got there, a bit of a line awaited; we went on a holiday weekend so we were expecting things to be crowded. To ensure everyone’s safety, all the museums require guests to go through security, which was the cause of the line. Once we got through we were ready to explore.

I was most excited for the bone hall, so we started there and I was not disappointed. The dinosaur fossils were huge and impressive. It’s so interesting paleontologists are able to put together full-sized fossil replicas of creatures we have never seen in real life. The bone hall features fossils from small lizards to the biggest dinosaurs, so make sure you don’t miss any.

Another room worth spending extra time in is the Hall of Human Origins, taking you through how we evolved as species. Go back in time to see how Neanderthals lived and changed over time to fit in with the world around them. This exhibit also shows you we aren’t so different from other species roaming the earth.

The museum features three floors of exhibits, gift shops and a cafeteria, so make sure you give yourself enough time to explore it all.
