Bluetooth speakers are the craze these days, but travelers usually require one a bit more durable than your typical Beats Pill. Thankfully, nomadic music junkies in need of shock proofing and weather resistance can look to Braven’s variety of rugged audio devices.
The base model of Braven’s Outdoor line is the BRV-1, priced at $100, while their mid-range model, the BRV-X, is priced at $200. Both are IPX7 certified, meaning it can be submerged in one meter of water for 30 minutes. Being larger, the BRV-1 has a richer sound, as well as additional features like a 5200mAh power bank for charging USB devices and True Wireless technology allowing two speakers to be paired for a stereo sound.
The BRV-HD ($300) only has an IPX-3 rating, but that’s a compromise in exchange for its high-definition sound. Braven’s flagship model has up to 28 hours of play time, in addition to True Wireless capabilities, but if you’re looking for something more portable, look toward the BRV-Pro. Priced at $150, this mid-range model aims to be the Swiss Army Knife of Bluetooth speakers thanks to a variety of attachments. The Pro can be outfitted with a solar charger, battery pack and even a GoPro mount for playing music on your extreme adventures.
Braven’s Outdoor line also includes the Bank, which is a smart battery pack that can be connected to your phone via Bluetooth, allowing you to use their Braven app to check battery life and use various safety features.
