Rumor has filled a void in Philadelphia’s nightlife scene, hosting some of the best DJs in the world of electronic music. While the city lacks in EDM-oriented venues, Rumor was the perfect place to host the official Made in America after-party.
While I didn’t get to go to the festival, the party was headlined by one of the Freedom Stage performers, Destructo, with an opening set by Rumor’s resident DJ, Salvo. My friends and I decided to splurge on a table in The Vault, Rumor’s VIP area with its own bar and music. The reservation process went smoothly with a representative answering all our questions promptly. They also required us to arrive by 11:30, giving us some time to meet friends in the city and arrive in time for the headliner.
As we approached the club at 15th and Sansom, there was a big line forming outside, signaling the party was already getting started. Security ran smoothly, as we were able to cut the line and get wristbands for the VIP area. The first room you enter is the main bar area, the largest room in the venue. The set-up forms a “U” around the VIP area, taking you from the hip-hop room around to the main dance floor with the headliner.
The opening DJ seemed to be finishing up as we were led to The Vault. The VIP room had a two-bottle minimum, delivered in a timely fashion with plenty of ice, glasses and mixers for our group. Although I am a hip-hop head, I was disappointed by the decision to have the hip-hop room pipe its music into The Vault, as I expected something a little more tasteful for the VIP area. Destructo’s performance was on point, playing an energetic house set for the night. The main dance floor is a little on the small side with a section corded off for tables, but the sound system was top-notch from all parts of the room.
Little things helped the night go by pleasantly, like plenty of clean bathrooms and an attentive staff. While its not quite as polished as the venues in New York and Miami, Rumor is a must see place for EDM-oriented nightlife in Philadelphia.

Nov 20, 2024Where to Find the Best Stargazing Spots in Ireland
This year, the Northern Lights put on quite the display across Ireland, but don’t think these lights are the only thing you can see in Ireland. In fact, many spots across the country provide some of the best opportunities to stargaze thanks to low levels of light pollution. Ireland has three International Dark Sky Parks and even more spots which, although not accredited, are worth a visit for anyone wishing to see the sky in its unfiltered form.
