Drinkers with a running problem have the chance to combine their love of running with their love for beer at Brew Mile, a running event that replaces water stations with beer stations.
Rather than wait until after running to reward yourself with a cold one, runners at Brew Mile drink while running, consuming a total of four beers over a one-mile route. Participants start with a beer, run a quarter-mile and then repeat the two-step process three more times before enjoying a three-hour beer tasting after-party.
The event’s mission is to support communities while celebrating local craft breweries, food businesses and music. Brew Mile also raises funds for charities via CharityBets, a platform that enables participants to raise more money from their donors by completing the Brew Mile faster.
The performance-based fundraising mechanism allows each participant to set a time goal and ask friends to pledge a range of donations for local charities on their behalf that goes up or down based on how fast they’re able to finish the race, relative to their goal. The faster a participant runs, the closer the amount of funds you raise within the range will be to the maximum.
Pre-registration is available for about 40 cities this year as well as registration for an event in Dallas on May 1. Each Brew Mile event has happy hour pricing, with rates that increase as the event gets closer. Prices vary, ranging from $55–80.
Grab your sneakers and a brew and start training for when Brew Mile hits your hometown.
