Although I heard Miami in August is not the most pleasant, I was determined to find a reason to still enjoy one of my favorite cities. That reason turned out to be my stay at Sagamore Hotel!
The Sagamore Hotel, also known as The Art Hotel, is exactly what I imagine when I hear the words South Beach. Located beachfront on Collins Avenue, Sagamore is in heart of where everything happens — shopping, restaurants or nightlife.
I immediately noticed the museum-like feel to the property. The decor is clean, simple and all white. Typically, I am one for a splash of color, but Sagamore has plenty of personality thanks to the art displayed throughout the property. The white walls are lined with beautiful paintings and great photographs. There were a few that I wish I could own!
You’ll also find artistic videos projected on the walls, sculptures and even a standard gray staircase which has been transformed, with each floor beautifully painted. I learned each flight was painted by a different student from the New World School of Arts.
It’s not surprising the property is family-owned as it exudes a different atmosphere than your standard hotel and has a lot of character. I had no complaints during my stay at Sagamore and hope to return again, ideally during Art Basel!
