Adventure

Unless you live in a desert, this one might be new to you. We all probably know what snowboarding is, or have maybe even tried it, but I bet you’ve never gone sandboarding before.

It’s steadily becoming one of the most popular outdoor sports in Dubai and much of the Middle East. Sandboarding is precisely what it sounds like, riding a board down mountains of sand. Okay, technically you’re riding them down sand dunes, but you get the picture.

Much like in snowboarding, you strap your boots into a board designed to glide smoothly down through sand and see how much speed and how many tricks you’re able to pull off.

It’s become so popular in Dubai that they now offer sandboarding safaris. You’ll get to hop in a 4×4 and be driven around to the most popular and beautiful sand dunes in Dubai. Once there you get to strap on a board and show your stuff.

It’s actually easier than snowboarding so if you’ve taken a spill or two at that no need to worry, you’ll be fine here. The sand dunes aren’t nearly as high as a mountain — mostly — so you don’t have to worry about plunging over an edge.

Multiple outlets provide sandboarding safaris in Dubai including Viator and Explore Tours.

Where to Find the Best Stargazing Spots in Ireland

This year, the Northern Lights put on quite the display across Ireland, but don’t think these lights are the only thing you can see in Ireland. In fact, many spots across the country provide some of the best opportunities to stargaze thanks to low levels of light pollution. Ireland has three International Dark Sky Parks and even more spots which, although not accredited, are worth a visit for anyone wishing to see the sky in its unfiltered form.
