Among the myriad products offered in Sea to Summit’s impressive Travelling Light series are Compression Cells, meant to compress your bulkier clothing and help you save room in your luggage.

The cells are incredibly useful, and they work well in saving space in your suitcase. As with most compression cells, they work best with bulkier items like winter coats and fleeces, but they perform well with stacks of more lightweight clothing too.

The bags sport a heavy duty zip-lock closure and a one-way valve at the base. Both make the product incredibly easy to use, so you’re not crawling around on the floor wrestling to get your items into the bag and let the air out before packing. And because the valve is hand-operated, you won’t need a pump to suck the air out. The product advertises it reduces volume by 80 percent, a figure that seems accurate in practice.

The cells also help keep things organized in your suitcase, preventing the wrinkling that tends to occur when your clothes are smashed together for long periods of time in route to your destination. And they’re clear, so you can easily see what you put where.

The compression cells are sold in packs of two: small and medium cells or medium and large cells.
