Summer is a beautiful time to see Chicago, but don’t think you have to leave your dog at home. Be sure to consider these dog-friendly activities around town when planning your trip to the Windy City.
Parks
There are plenty of areas around Chicago that welcome canines, more than one can fit in a single trip, but locals will tell you their favorites are Montrose Beach, Wiggly Field and Churchill Park.
Cruises
Some dogs love to put their head out the car window, but feeling the lake breeze is even more satisfying. Seadog Cruises allows dogs to come onboard for free, as long as they’re leashed and friendly. The cruises range from a relaxing tour of Lake Michigan and Chicago’s architecture to an adrenaline-filled Thrill Ride around Navy Pier, includes 360 spins and a max speed of 45 mph.
Food
There are plenty of restaurants around town that will welcome your pet as you eat some of Chicago’s classic culinary offerings. Harry Caray’s, for example, provides a souvenir water dish and treat for your dog. For desert, you can reward your dog with a gourmet treat from Tails in the City, a boutique pet store that sells all-natural snacks in addition to pet accessories.
Baseball
Bark at the Park is one of the most popular days of the year at Comiskey Park. For one day every season, White Sox fans are allowed to bring their canine pal to a game. This year’s Dog Day is Sept. 13, but tickets go fast so buy them quickly.
You can win a trip to Chicago this summer by entering the 2016 PetSafe Photo Contest sponsored by United Airlines and Sofitel!
