Seoul is the place for your next bleisure destination.
Interest in Seoul, South Korea, is at an all-time with people around the world catching the hallyu (global popularity of Korean popular culture) spirit through music, movies, television, pop culture, fashion, cuisine and more. Seoul has evolved into an incredible bleisure city with year-round events and an improved tourism infrastructure, making it the perfect choice for your business and leisure trips. Here’s a quick glimpse at some of the best places and activities in different regions of Seoul.
1. Jongno (Seoul Culture Lounge & Seoul My Soul Shop)
Seoul Culture Lounge, on the 11th floor of Seoul Tourism Plaza in Jongno-gu, Seoul, opened in June alongside the official Seoul goods store, Seoul My Soul Shop, on the first floor. Here, you can take various classes on Korean culture, including K-beauty, K-pop, Korean language and traditional crafts. Why don’t you stop by Seoul My Soul Shop to browse for souvenirs after taking classes about the Korean culture at Seoul Culture Lounge?
2. Myeong-dong & Euljiro
Myeong-dong is Seoul’s No. 1 shopping destination, home to Lotte and Shinsegae department stores, as well as many affordable Korean cosmetics shops. There are street foods, such as hotteok, egg bread, bungeo-ppang, hot bar, tteokbokki, sundae, fish cake, fruits, dalgona and more, that capture the attention of passersby. Choosing what to eat is part of the fun. Euljiro, a neighboring area of Myeong-dong, is a place where old beer pubs and barbeque spots coexist with hip cafés and eateries.
3. Itaewon, Hannam-dong and Yongsan
Hannam-dong and Itaewon-ro are home to the recommended area between Hangangjin Station to Itaewon Station on Subway Line 6, filled with cafés, fashion boutiques, Hyundai Card Music Library, Leeum Museum and galleries. Around Amorepacific New HQ in Sinyongsan, built by British architect David Chipperfield, check out the museum, underground food court and nearby restaurants/cafés. Yongsan IPARK Mall and Emart Yongsan have dining on floors four through seven and K-food shopping at the basement mart. If you’re intereted in Korean history and culture, visit National Museum of Korea and the War Memorial of Korea.
4. Yeouido
The Hyundai Seoul, a botanical garden-themed department store, opened in February 2021, across from IFC. If short on time, visit the food market on the basement level, where the food court, bakery and various desserts are a feast for the eyes (and stomach). One block way from the department store is Seouldal (meaning Seoul Moon), a tethered helium balloon that offers a vertical flight experience over Yeouido. The panoramic view from up to 130 meters above will promise you unforgettable memories in Seoul.
