Restaurant

Shojin, an organic, natural, vegan, macrobiotic, Japanese restaurant in downtown Los Angeles, provides an intimate dining experience for vegans and omnivores alike. The cozy atmosphere and adventurous menu make this restaurant a destination for date night or a special meal.

Shojin offers traditional Japanese fare with a flavorful, healthy twist. The sushi menu is a vegan’s delight — there are more than 10 deliciously inventive rolls to choose from. Try the spicy baked scallop roll, a combination of Eryngii mushrooms and onions on a spicy tofu roll with spicy mayo and dynamite sauce. The most impressive part of this roll is that it gets torched at your table. For less adventurous eaters, order the green dynamite roll, an avocado-wrapped green vegetable roll with quinoa, spicy mayo and green chili sauce.

In addition to sushi, Shojin offers appetizers, ramen, salads, entrees, desserts and drinks. The stuffed shitake mushrooms appetizer and Sea Vegetable Salad are customer favorites. For dessert, order the impressive creme brulee with earl grey ice cream, made from coconut milk, kuzu, maple syrup and coconut sugar. The drink menu is equally impressive and includes sake cocktails, wine, Champagne and even gluten-free beer.

The menu changes to reflect food trends and seasonal availability. All items are made from scratch, in-house. Be sure to ask your server for the latest dishes. Plan to spend a romantic evening there and celebrate with delicately crafted healthful food.
