Instagram and Snapchat give smartphone photographers a bad rap. While the internet is flooded with selfies and filters, there are quite a number of artists doing amazing things with the iPhone’s tiny camera. Such a device can’t compare to a full-fledged SLR camera, but there are companies bridging the gap between them, the latest being Zeiss.
Earlier in January, Zeiss introduced three new lenses in partnership with ExoLens — a wide angle, a telephoto and a macro-zoom lenses for the iPhone 6, bringing professional-level glass to the already capable smartphone camera. Dubbed the “ExoLens Pro” line, these lenses are getting updated for the larger iPhone 7 (though no word on the 7 Plus).
The Wide-Angle Kit features a Zeiss Mutar 0.6 Asph T* Wide-Angle lens, created with landscape photography in mind, as well as big, open shots like concerts and sports games. The Telephoto Kit has the 2.0-times version of the lens mentioned above, the equivalent of a 56mm lens, the same focal length of the iPhone 7 Plus’s telephoto. The final addition is the Macro-Zoom Kit, which features a Zeiss Vario-Proxar 40-80 T* macro lens which simultaneously changes the field of view and focus settings.
The iPhone 6 kits are currently available at the Apple Store. Check back for availability on the iPhone 7 versions.
