If you’ve attempted to book a hotel for the upcoming April 8 eclipse, you’ve likely noticed hotel rates are up for the nights surrounding the event in a major way, particularly in destinations predicted to enjoy the best views of the eclipse in the path of totality. However, if your budget can’t swing a pricey hotel stay this spring, you do have other ways to travel and see the eclipse. An RV could be your perfect solution.
RV rentals have experienced a surge in popularity over the last years, with the increased interest in camping that arose due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you haven’t yet given this mode of travel a try, now’s the time. RVing allows you to go where you want, when you want and enjoy lower costs along the way.
“What better way to appreciate the awe-inspiring solar eclipse transformation of the mid-day sky than by witnessing it in the peaceful and expansive great outdoors,” said Craig Kirby, president and CEO, RV Industry Association. “The fact that it’s a lot more affordable to experience this with family and friends in an RV makes this an irresistible option.”
That said, if you do want to rent an RV and travel to a campsite for your eclipse-viewing experience, don’t wait. Campgrounds are filling up and some are charging higher prices for eclipse stays. You’ll want to book both your RV rental and your campground stay sooner rather than later.
