The Sleeping Lady Resort isn’t your average hotel. Tucked inside Icicle Canyon just a few minutes from the Bavarian-themed town of Leavenworth, in Washington State’s Cascade Mountains, this feeling is evident the minute you step out of your car.
The grounds are kept incredibly natural, with buildings that complement the surrounding landscape of lush trees and glimpses of big mountains. Rather than traditional hotel rooms, the accommodations are set up like cabins, which are grouped into square-shaped clusters with a natural, open space in the center.
The rooms are rustic yet comfortable, with various configurations. Most are able to fit several people, ideal for families and groups. Rather than hanging cheesy stock art, the cabins have enormous windows looking out onto the grounds’ picturesque and peaceful surroundings. At night, you’ll be sung to sleep by frogs and you’ll wake up to birdsong.
The grounds’ other highlights include an organic garden, outdoor volleyball court, a bar, a theater, charming artist’s cabins and stunning group sleeping cabins, a fitness room, spa and sauna, library and play barn. Also included in your stay are gourmet buffet breakfasts and dinners at the Kingfisher Restaurant & Wine Bar on site. Local, seasonal ingredients are heavily utilized in a dizzying array of high-quality food.
One of the property’s best features is the outdoor pool and hot pool, both of which are set in a natural setting of boulders nestled against a moss- and lichen-covered hillside. Watch for deer as you unwind here.
Last, the resort’s is committed to the environment and to running a socially responsible business, as if you needed any more excuses to pack a bag and visit immediately.
