Small Luxury Hotels of the World confirms its place on the forefront of sustainable luxury hotels with the addition of five eco-luxury hotels to its Considerate Collection. Hotels within the Considerate Collection brand are handpicked and vetted, representing actively sustainable hotels. Launched in 2021, Considerate Collection hotels all follow SLH’s sustainability criteria as outlined by the UN’s Sustainability Development Goals and Global Sustainable Tourism Council framework.
Amilla Maldives holds EarthCheck Silver status. Take part in Maldivian culture with the resort’s array of eco-friendly activities and initiatives, including a coral propagation project, bird breeding program and complimentary use of bicycles and electric golf buggies.
Located in Syros, Greece, the plastic-free hotel uses solar panels to heat its water. The property also partnered with Cyclades Preservation Fund on a regreening and tree-planting program.
The Italian property is home to nine farmhouses across the 3,700-acre estate. The owners adopted a re-wilding program for local wildlife including roe deer, wild boar and porcupines. The property serves homegrown and foraged food on its menus, with hyper-local suppliers rounding out the rest of the ingredients.
The traditional Moroccan Kasbah was constructed using local materials, including adobe, bamboo and wood from lemon and olive trees. Dar Ahlam further utilizes sustainable practices with its solar panels and water treatment system.
Located in Mauritius, the secluded resort celebrates Mauritian craftsmanship with a retail space selling locally and sustainably made products, from baskets to swimwear. The property eliminated single-use plastics.
