Photographers looking for the capabilities of a full SLR while not sacrificing the portability of a compact camera look no further. Sony’s A6000 is a photography-minded traveler’s dream.
The A6000 replaces Sony’s acclaimed NEX-6 as a mirrorless compact digital camera with interchangeable lenses (Sony offers 17 E-mount lenses). The camera features a 24.3 MP APS-C sized Exmore APS HD CMOS sensor with continuous shooting up to 11 fps. A BIONZ X processor is sensitive up to ISO 25600. The A6000 has a 3-inch LCD rear monitor that tilts, a detachable electronic viewfinder and a pop-up flash.
The camera is fully adjustable for users who demand more control from their machine. It can be switched between manual and auto focus, as well. For those who want the camera to do the work, various auto settings make taking pictures easy. One of the nicest features is the handheld twilight mode, which shoots photos in low-light conditions without the need of a flash by stitching together a series of six images. Of course the camera also has a few built-in photo effects and filters. In addition, the camera is WiFi-enabled. Besides the other features you would expect to find on any digital camera, the A6000 has a host of others. Sony pretty much thought of everything and compressed it down into what is essentially a SLR that fits in your pocket (granted, a large pocket).
The A6000 checks in at less than $700 on Amazon, a reasonable price for as much as Sony has stuffed into this small package.
