History buffs will enjoy this seven-day tour of locations and buildings that played a significant part in the life of Nelson Mandela. Offered by Red Savannah, the tour takes you to village of Qunu where Madiba grew up all the way to the Eastern Cape battlefields.
Along the way you’ll explore the Mandela Museum, which explores the history of the freedom fighter’s life and struggles, along with the church he was baptized in. You’ll also get to meet with a sangoma healer to learn all about the medicine, beliefs and traditions Mandela grew up on.
Not only this, but you’ll also take time out from exploring his life and contributions to take in the beautiful countryside. There are two full days of safari included in the tour along with luxurious accommodations, horse rides on the beach, tea at the famous Somerset House and a picnic on the 2,000-meter-high Hogsback Mountain.
Red Savannah also offers a four-night extension for those interested in exploring nearby Cape Town, Robben Island and the Winelands. Pricing for this trip begins at $4,335 per person, though you’ll have to pay for your own international flight.
