There’s a lot of talk about eco-friendly hotels, but one property is going above and beyond the rest, becoming the first carbon positive hotel in the United States. Located in downtown Denver, Populus, from Aparium Hotel Group, offsets both its embodied and operational carbon footprints through reforesting and similar initiatives that will ultimately sequester more carbon than the building emits over its lifecycle — meaning the hotel isn’t just negating its impact, it’s also having a positive impact.

“Populus is destined to become a must-visit destination for today’s modern traveler, a place that Denver residents are proud to have in their backyard, and a landmark that redefines the future of sustainable travel with a commitment to superior service and an elevated guest experience,” said Mario Tricoci, CEO and founder, Aparium Hotel Group. “With dynamic amenities and a distinct reverence for nature, the hotel will foster connections between guests, the city and the environment.”

The striking property offers more than 250 guestrooms, a signature restaurant, lounge and coffee bar, and rooftop restaurant and bar. Guestrooms offer furnishings made from sustainable or recycled materials, and spaces bring the outdoors in with features like window hammocks — curved, cushioned benches set within the windows. Even for those just visiting the property for an event or for dining or drinks, the property is sure to delight with its striking biophilic architecture.
