Winter blues is a real thing. You may want to dress to keep warm and not necessarily to impress — that means sweatpants and sweatshirts with warm winter boots may be your go-to look until there is more sun in which to bask. Below, find tips on how to look chic in cold weather.
- Layering is your best friend. This allows you to achieve warmth and will most likely prevent you from getting sick. Sweaters can be worn over long shirts with your jacket/ coat, scarf and hat.
- When creating looks for the day, try to mix and match your colors as best as possible. You may want to wear bright, complementary colors together to make a statement or you can tone down that look by wearing something more neutral.
- Knee-high boots just might be your best attire. They usually dress up any outfit, whether it is with a high or lower heel. Wear colored pants that will show off the style of the boot and make your look more winter ready.
- This is a great time to try out all the patterns you may have in your closet. You may want to mix two patterns and colors. Put on that bright coat you may have been shying away from all this time.
- Most places have a lot of snow during this time and you are encouraged to wear white. Mix it with other colors as a way to brighten a look and not to get lost in the background.
- Wear stylish hats, scarves and belts. Nordstrom, H&M and Forever21 usually have chic felt hats or beanies to create a look. Scarves should accentuate the outfit. Wear a belt that has a different color from your outfit to make it pop.
