This sustainable hotel in Sweden is seriously impressive — thanks, in part, to the fact the structure is the tallest wooden hotel in the world.

Simply called The Wood Hotel, this property sits in Swedish Lapland and is made from wood collected from nearby forests. The hotel is 20 stories tall and made from a mixture of spruce and pine. The property offers more than 200 modern guestrooms that, supposedly, smell like trees. The property also features a rooftop spa and three restaurants.

“This is an opportunity for sustainability-minded visitors who search out ‘neo luxury,’ looking for culture and escapism all wrapped into one comfortable, climate-sensitive package,” said Alex Minnis, COO, Off the Map Travel. “Being made out of wood contributes to the building’s being climate positive, as the structure absorbs more Co2 than it uses. It also contributes to comfort and personal wellbeing, reducing stress and improving sleep.”
