There are too many phone chargers out there to count. From battery packs to solar panels to even a USB-charging campfire, it can be easy to overlook the simplicity of the SOScharger, a phone charger powered with a hand crank.
The company originally launched as a successful Kickstarter campaign, asking for $27,000, only to have it surpassed by 250 percent before the campaign even finished.
The enthusiasm for the product can be credited to its simple, but effective design. Three to five minutes of cranking will give you five to 12 minutes of talk time. Furthermore, by either cranking or plugging it in, the SOScharger will store energy on an internal battery so you can charge your phone as needed without relying on the crank.
