Sweep down active volcanoes, explore high Andean passes and scale the granite in Torres del Paine on a new journey with award-winning mountain-biking experts H+I Adventures.
The 12-day journey takes bikes through bamboo and native araucaria trees, across a moonscape of petrified lava and up snow-covered volcanoes in Chile and Patagonia.
“Our newest tour is a dynamic adventure where intermediate riders spend seven days biking in Chile’s beautiful Lakes and Volcanoes district and then an extra four days exploring Patagonia by foot and kayak,” said Euan Wilson, owner, H+I Adventures.
Guided by H+I’s local Chilean expert, the tour explores the Huilo Huilo biosphere reserve on a historic trail to the border of Argentina, takes riders to the world-famous Trans-Andes Challenge and visits a glacier completely covered by the volcanic ashes of Villarrica.
Not only do participants peddle, mountain bikers also visit a Mapuche community to learn about local customs and enjoy a traditional asado (barbecue) on the shores of Lake Petrohue.
The tour debuts this November, but is already sold out for 2016. Dates for next year include Feb. 20–March 3, 2017, and March 6–17, 2017. Rates start from $4,743 per person and include a variety of unique accommodations, from lakeside lodges and cozy domes in Patagonia to woodland cabins and traditional, family-run hotels.
Chile becomes the 11th destination added to H+I’s portfolio of thrilling bike adventures. Visit the website to discover more inspiring adventures.
