Down on the southern coast of England, the county of Dorset is a favorite weekend destination for those living in London and elsewhere.
Around four hours’ drive from the capital is the village of Symondesbury, which sits slightly inland from the popular seaside town of West Bay. There you will find a pub, a church and the spectacular Symondesbury Manor.
It was here a friend booked the place out for a 30th birthday celebration involving 30 friends, one of the rare houses in the area that could accommodate such a large group. The setting is spectacular, as is the house, and the manor handled the festivities with ease.
Each room was comfortable and well-appointed, and the common areas were incredible. A huge dining table sat all 30 guests for dinner, and an impressive garden provided a lovely space to enjoy the last of the summer sun.
Nearby beaches made for a great daytrip, and the local pub is within walking distance if you need a break from the house. While you are unlikely to book Symondesbury for a simple weekend away, it’s the perfect spot to celebrate birthdays and other events. It comes highly recommended.
