Within the cellars, you’ll see where antique bottles have been stored and collected over the last 200 years. Tours and tastings start at $20 and range from novice to expert level.

Of course, you can’t forget about food while staying at this historic property. The nearby Sandeman Seixo by Vasco Coehlo Santos recently opened in the Douro region, in which Sandeman’s best vineyards are showcased through the menu. Delicious food is complemented by views of the Douro River. Reservations are recommended, as its extensive wine list and fresh-food menu draws many, especially in the summer.
