Trends / Unique Itineraries & Tours

For travelers looking to get an authentic taste of Vietnam, the Cai Rang Floating Market is an amazing place to experience. Located in the Mekong Delta, about four hours from Saigon, and just a 30-minute boat ride from nearby Can Tho, this water-bound bazaar runs throughout the morning — starting at 5 a.m. and ending around noon.

The market is made up of hundreds of small, colorfully painted merchant boats, and features a wide variety of goods, like fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers and seafood. Each vendor hangs his goods at the end of a towering pole, so nearsightedness is a rookie mistake. Conversely, peering above the hoard of boats at the horizon in the distance is the best way to find what you are looking for.

What travelers of the market frequently find is some merchants selling beverages will attach their vessels to the side of the tour boat, offering drinks to the thirsty visitors.

Most tours last around seven hours, and after visiting the market, typically venture out to explore the rest of the canal. While tours are frequent in the early morning, travelers should be sure to not wait too long, as the last boats leave around 7 a.m.
