The Gorge Zip Line Canopy Adventure in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains is gearing up for spring. The adventure allows visitors to soar along 6,500 feet of zip lines with three huge rappels 200 feet above the Green River Gorge.
This is far from your ordinary zip line — its more than a mile long and descends 1,100 vertical feet down the side of the Green River Gorge, and its known as the steepest, fastest zip line in America. The zip line has 11 sections, three rappels and the Sky Bridge. There’s an option to end the 3.5-hour tour with the new Quick Jump.
Despite the thrills and pumping adrenaline, the course also offers some tranquility. Soaring over the 124 acres of verdant growth of the South Appalachian forest, zip liners will spot wildflowers, and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the outdoors in springtime.
Tours are available by reservation only for people weighing 70–250 pounds. Prices are $95 per person, for those ages 10 and older; groups are priced at $85 per person for eight or more people.
