The Lodge & Club was my home for a few days recently. Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., is located just a bit south of Jacksonville and, though I’ve been to the area several times, this was my first stay at the property.
Upon my arrival, the friendly staff at the door greeted me before I met the equally amiable front desk staff. As I was the only guest arriving at the moment (around 11:30 a.m. on a Wednesday), I was checked in within seconds and off to my room, following the directions from the girl at the front desk.
All of the rooms at the property are entered from a covered walkway. The outdoor scenery is most certainly one of the top draws here, so every effort is taken to display the gorgeous views, whether facing the ocean or the well-manicured landscaping.
My ocean suite was absolutely as lovely as I had hoped. A small kitchenette with microwave and mini fridge greeted me on my right, while further into the suite, I found a tastefully decorated sitting area with a modern fireplace. A large bed took up one corner of the room, where I also found a spacious walk-in closet (great for storing your luggage and bags you’d rather not look at while on vacation) and bathroom with separate water closet. I was especially happy to find the vanity was extra large and there was a garden tub perfect for soaking, in addition to the spacious standing shower. One of the best aspects of the room, though, was the window seat, filled with plush pillows, offering uninhibited views of the ocean. A patio door led to a small seating area, which, a few steps further, led to a lawn and fire pit that came in handy when the nights turned a bit chilly.
Of course, one of the most important parts of travel is food, an area in which The Lodge & Club excels. In addition to dining at the property’s restaurants, guests also have complete access to dining experiences at The Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, a sister resort to The Lodge & Club located just a mile or so away. By far, my favorite was the Innlet Dining Room, situated in a gorgeous circular space overlooking the beach. Currently, the restaurant is finishing some renovations, and I was among one of the first to experience it. From the tuna tartar with sriracha marshmallows to the cast-iron New York strip with black garlic jus, the entire meal, paired with a variety of wines, was one to remember. A close second for dining is The Ponte Vedra Inn & Club’s Seahorse Grille. I especially loved the course of lamb chop with eggplant confit, hemp salad and red pepper fondue.
When you’re not taking advantage of the many dining opportunities, you’ll also enjoy The Spa at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, 15 clay tennis courts, two 18-hole golf courses, multiple heated pools and, of course, the beautiful oceanfront.
A true pleasure to visit, The Lodge & Club is one of my new favorites in northern Florida.

Nov 20, 2024Where to Find the Best Stargazing Spots in Ireland
This year, the Northern Lights put on quite the display across Ireland, but don’t think these lights are the only thing you can see in Ireland. In fact, many spots across the country provide some of the best opportunities to stargaze thanks to low levels of light pollution. Ireland has three International Dark Sky Parks and even more spots which, although not accredited, are worth a visit for anyone wishing to see the sky in its unfiltered form.
