The Retreat Costa Rica recently embarked on a $3 million expansion that added 26,500 square feet with a clubhouse, three restaurants and 10 luxury lofts. The expansion is expected to be complete in late April 2025.
“With increasing numbers of people looking to detox from our frenetic digitally oriented society, the demand for our wellness services is growing quickly, with guests increasingly looking for more holistic and luxurious experiences,” said Diana Stobo, founder, The Retreat Costa Rica. Stobo is a celebrity chef, author and artist.
All the new facilities will be built to embrace the region’s topography and incorporate sustainable elements, natural décor and locally sourced materials. Santosha Clubhouse will be a communal area for unwinding, offering a single-lane lap pool, a state-of-the-art gym and a yoga shala. Perched atop Santosha Clubhouse will be Mystique, the resort’s signature restaurant; La Diosa, a lounge terrace; and Richard’s Kitchen, located poolside with an open kitchen.
The new Santosha Lofts face the west and utilize feng shui principles in the design. With décor capturing the resort’s theme of “quiet luxury in nature,” the lofts also boast large bathrooms, oversized windows and Stobo’s artwork.
