The new hospitality brand from Standard International, The StandardX, opened the doors of The StandardX, Melbourne on Aug. 8. The StandardX distills The Standard experience down to its X-factor, serving as the rebellious younger sibling.
The StandardX, Melbourne is located in the vibrant Fitzroy neighborhood, taking inspiration from the area’s 1970s and 80s heyday. Melbourne-based interior design firm Hecker Guthrie led the design, which starts with an elevated loft with a fireplace and a contemporary, uncomplicated aesthetic across its eight floors. Each of the 125 guestrooms boast a blue and white palette, ranging from Cozy Kings to Suite Spots. The work of Melbourne artists is on display throughout the hotel.
BANG, an all-day Thai concept, is led by Executive Chef Justin Dingle-Garciyya and redefines the concept of Thai street food. The Roof, atop the hotel, is a secret hideaway featuring panoramic views of the city and offering dining inspired by the flavors of Mercado Medellin. At The Box, guests can purchase everyday essentials, lifestyle items, snacks and beverages.
Rates at The StandardX, Melbourne start around $160. Future potential expansion plans for StandardX include Brooklyn, East Austin, Bangkok and more. Learn more about the new brand.
