Making its big Hollywood debut in the Rocky movies as Adrian’s Italian Restaurant, Victor Café in South Philadelphia is the spot to visit for delicious, homemade gravy and beautiful music.
Originally a gramophone shop opened by John DiStefano, the business became a meeting place for those who had a love for classical music while enjoying spumoni and espresso. In 1933, DiStefano purchased a beer and wine license as the repeal of Prohibition took place and the gramophone business turned into The Victor Café, “Music Lover’s Rendezvous.” In 1979, a student studying opera and working at the café would sing to his customers and a tradition was born. In 2005, a location manager found the restaurant and knew it would be the ideal location to film Sylverster Stallone’s hit movie, Rocky Balboa, and then again in 2015 for the same Italian restaurant scene for Creed.
Now, The Victor Café is a historical dining experience where customers can enjoy classical music from the staff as they enjoy freshly made dishes. Patrons can choose Italian classics like ravioli, cannelloni, veal piccata and risotto primavera. Signed photographs of the celebrity clientele who have stopped by cover the walls and the warm décor welcomes families to enjoy a spectacular evening. The Victor Café is the perfect location for customers to enjoy a great night out.
