Destinations / North America

Providence, Rhode Island, delights visitors this fall with plenty of spooky fun for the whole family. With several events canceled last year due to COVID-19, the city brings back favorite annual festivals for 2021. Those visiting this fall may also catch a glimpse of the cast filming Hocus Pocus 2 in Rhode Island’s Blackstone Valley!

Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular

The annual autumn event at Roger Williams Park Zoo was changed to a drive-through experience in 2020. This fall, the event returns to its walk-through format. Held through Oct. 31, the event features more than 5,000 intricately carved pumpkins. This year’s event celebrates 150 years of music, with pumpkins depicting the greats of ragtime, swing, rock, hip hop and more. View pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, with some weighing up to 2,000 pounds. Tickets are on sale now and must be purchased in advance.

WaterFire Providence

Last held in November 2019, WaterFire Providence returns for 2021. The unique festival boasts more than 80 floating bonfires along the rivers of downtown Providence. Check the website for the event schedule, with various celebrations now through December.

GoProvidence Pass

See even more of the city with the GoProvidence Pass program. The pass gives $100 gift cards to visitors booking a stay at participating hotels including The Beatrice, Graduate Providence and Hotel Providence. The gift cards may be used throughout the city at restaurants, shops and attractions. The pass is available through the month of December.
