It seems like every week there’s a new hurricane moving through the Caribbean and across the southern United States. If you’re considering a little getaway before the holidays commence, you may be thinking that’s not exactly the direction you want to travel, just in case you end up on the wrong side of hurricane season.
However, if you just can’t shake the thought of pristine Caribbean sands, you may feel a little more comfortable booking a stay this month at The Buccaneer, a luxury property on St. Croix. Not only is getting to St. Croix easy, as part of the U.S. Virgin Islands, but the resort has also recently introduced a new Worry Free Hurricane Guarantee.
The guarantee is valid for travel through Nov. 30, giving you peace of mind during hurricane season. If a hurricane watch is issued by authorities, cancel your existing booking and get a full refund on your accommodations (normally, a cancelation would come with a one-night penalty). If there’s a Category One or higher hurricane that closes down St. Croix’s airport, and if you’ve made a deposit, reschedule your stay at the resort with no penalty or choose to receive a full refund. Then, if you’re already on your trip and there’s a government-declared hurricane or tropical depression that cuts your trip short, the resort will cover your early departure.
