There’s no cure for jet lag, but there are some apps designed to minimize it. These programs can help you get acclimated to new time zones and reduce the effects of travel fatigue.
This free app was designed by a group of mathematicians and based on the process of entrainment. Users plug in their destination and arrival time; the app provides a schedule specifying when to be in bright light, low light or in the dark. The app can also be customized based on the type of light the user is being exposed to the most, whether it’s low or bright daylight, or low or bright office light.
This app requires users to adjust their sleep schedules before their trip to reduce jet lag symptoms. Jet Leg App also suggests users take melatonin at times when they should feel sleepy. Enter your destination and arrival date, and the app will give you a regiment for sleep and light exposure, as well as prompts to pop melatonin.
This free app is a sleep calculator that controls light exposure in order to combat jet lag. Plug in the itinerary for your upcoming trip — departure city and time, arrival city and time — along with your sleeping habits. The app will provide an ideal sleep schedule for you, broken down by the hour. Jet Lag Rooster will also tell you when you should sleep and when you should seek light. You can adjust your schedule upon arrival or you can start using the app a few days before your trip, which may eliminate jet lag entirely.
