Thanksgiving is right around the corner. If your plans include anything other than staying at home and eating a big meal, make sure you prepare by following our tips.
- Buy tickets early. Whatever mode of transportation you plan to take, buy your tickets ahead of time to avoid last-minute price hikes and sold-out routes.
- Check the weather reports. If you plan to attend an outdoor parade, make sure you’re dressed appropriately. Wear layers so you can add or subtract depending on the temperatures.
- Scope out the parade route ahead of time. For events like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (http://social.macys.com/parade/) in New York City, wake up extra early to score a prime spot along the parade route.
- Take public transportation. Instead of navigating street closures, take public transportation if you’re attending a parade. You’ll save time and money on parking.
- Make dinner reservations. If you and your loved ones decide to skip the traditional home-cooked Thanksgiving meal, make reservations early at your restaurant of choice. For large groups, be sure to book as soon as possible. Consider dining at an off-peak time.
- Come up with an alternate plan. Weather changes, plans get canceled, the turkey overcooks. Regardless of your Thanksgiving plans, come up with a back-up plan in case something unforeseen occurs.
