The British summer is on its way, and the opportunity to get some weak, intermittent sun is sending residents of the fair isles into delirium. Along with the anticipation of a sorely-needed boost in vitamin D levels, excitement is building for the 2015 Wimbledon.
The championships offer the best of tennis, as well as the chance to experience a quintessentially British event. Given the high demand for tickets, it is not easy to get in.
Those who wish to buy a cheaper grounds pass and see a full day of tennis should consider camping overnight in nearby Wimbledon Park, where the hardcore fans wait patiently for the next day’s action amid a carnival atmosphere. These tickets are only valid for the outside courts, but offer the perfect opportunity to experience Wimbledon without breaking the bank.
If camping seems rather extreme and you would like to catch a specific match, buy a more expensive ticket to the inner courts, where the big names slug it out.
Alternatively, you can arrive late and buy a late release grounds pass, which go on sale as the early arrivals start to leave. These tickets will not grant you access to the inner courts, but do give the opportunity of sampling Wimbledon in less time — perfect for those on a short visit to London. You may well get lucky and bump into someone with a more expensive ticket who is already leaving, and it is not uncommon for these tickets to be given away to lucky late arrivals.
Be sure to remember sunscreen, a hat and perhaps an umbrella for the likely rain showers, and get yourself a glass of Pimm’s and some strawberries and cream for a classic Wimbledon experience.

Apr 10, 2025Study Shows More Millennials Are Cruising
A new study from Cruisebound shows more millennials are cruising, as the average age of cruisers trends downward. The study discovered the largest portion of cruisers are ages 25 to 44, making up 45 percent of all cruise bookers. Seniors, aged 55 and up, currently only account for 26 percent of cruise bookers. The platform theorizes this trend in younger cruisers is brought about by cruise lines’ increasing offering of family-friendly experiences and shorter cruises that can be enjoyed over a long weekend.
