When it comes to taking care of our teeth, things can get a little pricey here in the States. That’s why many Americans are heading overseas for their dental work. It’s an often safe and cheaper practice, but there are a few things you need to keep in mind.
Check Costs
Most people head overseas to places like Asia for dental work for cheaper costs, but it’s important to do in-depth research before you go. Add up the cost of accommodations, flights, food and dental work for a complete picture to ensure you are actually saving money.
Check Laws
Dental malpractice is a serious issue and you need to know how well regulated your foreign dentist will be. Can he just stick whatever he wants in your mouth with no consequences? Remember, cheap doesn’t mean good.
Review Dentists
Make sure you find a reputable dentist before letting him work on your teeth. Find people you know or reviews online (that aren’t fake) so you know he or she does great work before committing.
Buy Insurance
Your dental insurance back home won’t cover work done overseas. Make sure you purchase travel insurance that covers emergencies, including failed dental work. You should always have insurance when you travel, no matter the reason.
