Traveling with friends and family means endless hours of bonding time and countless photo opportunities for the scrapbook or Instagram. But living with your loved ones 24 hours a day can be potentially anxiety inducing. Follow the tips below to ensure your group travel ends in smiles and not tears.
Plan ahead
Are there specific attractions you want to visit or is there a certain delicacy that you absolutely must try? Communicate these desires before you hit the road so you can plan accordingly. Everyone in the group does not have to participate in every activity, but knowing what people want to do on the journey allows members of the group to pick and choose what they want to see and do.
Take alone time if you need it
You may want time away from your family after a few days of non-stop togetherness, and it’s important to let your group know you plan to venture out for an afternoon of solitude.
Be flexible
Plans are great, but they may change. Weather, illness and other unforeseen circumstances may arise, so flexibility is crucial when planning a group trip. Take preparedness to the next level by drafting alternate activities if the unexpected occurs.
Communicate
It is likely impossible for everyone to see and do everything they want, but speak up and make your desires known. Perhaps there is someone else in the group who wants to accompany you to a classical music concert while the others attend a wine tasting. Without communicating what you want, you may miss out on valuable opportunities.

A new study from Cruisebound shows more millennials are cruising, as the average age of cruisers trends downward. The study discovered the largest portion of cruisers are ages 25 to 44, making up 45 percent of all cruise bookers. Seniors, aged 55 and up, currently only account for 26 percent of cruise bookers. The platform theorizes this trend in younger cruisers is brought about by cruise lines’ increasing offering of family-friendly experiences and shorter cruises that can be enjoyed over a long weekend.
