Argentina is legendary for its steak and wine. At these five restaurants you can get a taste of the country in the British capital of London.
Casa Malevo
The Connaught Street address might suggest an exclusive, upscale restaurant, but Casa Malevo has a welcoming atmosphere. Dishes are drawn from across the country, and the steaks are top drawer. It’s not cheap but it won’t break the bank either.
CAU Blackheath
It might be slightly out of the way in Blackheath, but CAU is worth a visit. The all-day menu draws on favorites from the Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires, with steaks and burgers featured heavily. If you want Argentinian food on a budget, this is the place to go.
Santa Maria del Sur
Owner Alberto Abbate was involved with Casa Malevo before branching out on his own. Santa Maria del Sur brings the best steak and wine to Battersea, in South London, and the restaurant is well known for its wide selection of wines.
The Bull Steak Expert
As you may have guessed from the name, steak is the specialty at this joint in the City of London. Master griller Daniel Veron is on hand to prepare the best in steaks, chorizo and morcilla, washed down with one of the excellent wines.
Buen Ayre
For a more laid-back atmosphere, head to Buen Ayre in Hackney’s Broadway Market. It’s a welcoming little place with well-cooked steaks and Argentinian wines at wallet-friendly prices.
