There are endless possibilities for places to backpack throughout the world. We thought we’d make it easier for you and choose some of the best.
Thailand
Thailand remains one of the most popular destinations for backpackers thanks to its affordability and breathtaking beauty. The mountains to the north provide a great place to relax and become immersed in the culture, while the beaches to the south offer the perfect relaxing getaway reminiscent of a tropical island.
Morocco
The best thing about Morocco is it’s ridiculously cheap. The food, hostels and tours all fit a shoestring budget while giving you a glimpse of life across parts of Africa. It’s a predominately Muslim country away from the turmoil in the Middle East, making it a great place to explore the religion along with some amazing food.
Bolivia
One of the problems with visiting South America is it can get expensive, especially in the high-volume tourist countries like Brazil and Argentina. Bolivia provides a great alternative and, being part of the Andes, is great for rugged outdoor adventure.
India
If you’re looking for a jolt to your system, consider backpacking around India. It’s not ideal for the inexperienced traveler due to the hectic way of life. However, it’s hard to find a more affordable, unique place in the world.
Europe
Look, if you’re going to do one country in Europe you might as well do them all. Truth be told it’s not cheap, but getting around is fairly easy thanks to budget flights and cross-continent trains. There are entire countries bigger than all of Europe, so if you’re going to do it, you might as well go big or go home. Besides, where else can you find such a diverse amount of culture in such a small space?
