North America

With more than 40 small breweries and brewpubs sprinkled all over the state, Maine offers craft brew enthusiasts plenty of opportunities to sample a wide range of beers in different styles.

Allagash Brewery

Located in Portland, Allagash Brewery is New England’s original Belgian-style brewery, featuring a portfolio of popular yearly releases as well as several limited-edition bottles and keg-only releases. Each one of Allagash’s bottle beers is bottle conditioned, ensuring the utmost freshness and quality. Tours are offered year-round and include a guided tasting of four beers.

Maine Beer Company

With the motto Do What’s Right, how can Maine Beer Company go wrong? Located in Freeport, Maine Beer Company produces fresh, hoppy beers, including their flagship Peeper American Ale and Lunch IPA that beer lovers pine for around the country. The brewery offers a tasting room with eight beers on tap, including some exclusive, brewery-only releases. Though Maine Beer Company currently doesn’t offer brewery tours, visitors can catch an exciting view of the brewery operations from the huge glass windows in the tasting room.

Oxbow Brewing Company

Nestled on a wooded road near the mid-coast village of Newcastle, Oxbow Brewing Company is an American farmhouse brewery producing a variety of Belgian brews in a rustically modern setting. Visit the tasting room in the building adjacent to the brewery for samples to enjoy on tap and to pick up bottles and growlers to take home.

Bunker Brewing Company

Pay a visit to Maine’s hip East Bayside neighborhood to try the unique brews from Bunker Brewing Co., housed in an old brick scrapyard building. The nano-brewery produces experimental, traditional and seasonal brews and often collaborates with local artisans on small batch beers.
