Bunratty Castle

Head to Co. Clare to visit this incredible and popular tourist stop. The castle was built in 1425 and is open to the public. It may not be as intricately decorated as some castles, but the rich history of this 15th-century construction is worth a trip.

Malahide Castle

Malahide has everything you’d want in a castle, including intricately leaded glass and towers. It was built in the 12th century, making it almost 1,000 years old. Located in Co. Dublin, it’s the perfect blend of fairytale architecture and fascinating history.

Kilkenny Castle

Built in the 13th century, this grey stone castle is settled on breathtaking grounds. The huge castle was sold to the town of Kilkenny for £50 in 1967, and has been open to the public ever since. It’s a really impressive sight, and has been painstakingly repaired and maintained.

Dublin Castle

Situated in the city itself, this beautiful castle is great for those with tight schedules in Dublin. Built in the 13th century, it was a Norman fort and later became the headquarters of the British government in Ireland. With a museum, it’s a wonderful way to learn about Irish history.

Blarney Castle

You didn’t think we’d leave off the most iconic castle in Ireland, did you? Located near Cork, Blarney Castle is home to the Blarney Stone, which is believed to give eloquence to those who kiss it. You’ll be forgiven if you choose not to roll the dice on the Blarney Stone, but taking a trip to this world-famous castle has to make it’s way onto your to-do list.
