Philadelphia’s coffee shops serve up some of the best beans in the country. Stop by one of these shops to sample the best coffee and atmosphere the city has to offer.
Elixr
Elixr coffee is served in many Philadelphia restaurants. The eco-friendly café decked out in wood paneling is a great spot to catch up on some work or reading. Located in Center City, Elixr presents a rotating series of art and mural installations.
La Colombe
Perhaps the best known among this list, La Colombe now has three locations: Rittenhouse Square, Dilworth Plaza and Fishtown. La Colombe’s rich, unique beans are served all over town. Though, you can’t beat a cup and a pastry from the charming Rittenhouse Square location.
Old City Coffee
Served in its Old City café and two stands at Reading Terminal Market, Old City Coffee hosts tastings, demonstrations and other events. For more than 25 years, the shop has been serving the finest Arabica beans, roasted in small batches.
Shot Tower Coffee
This cozy, light-filled corner shop in the Queen’s Village neighborhood offers a classic drink and food menu — perfect for a lazy afternoon visit. Shot Tower brews with Counter Culture beans and has an extensive tea list. Open daily until 6 p.m., the shop regularly hosts events.
Ultimo
Ultimo serves Counter Culture Coffee in its two locations: Graduate Hospital and Newbold. The shops sell treats and sandwiches from local purveyors, including the nearby American Sardine Bar and Cookie Confidential.
