It’s the start of a new school year and that means one thing: It’s college football season. College football is unlike the NFL and some may say it dominates its professional offshoot — from stadiums, tailgates, marching bands, pride, fans and the atmosphere, they may be right.

Take a look at the top five college football stadiums where you wish you spent your Saturdays.

Rose Bowl, UCLA

Located in Pasadena, Calif., this 92,542-seat stadium is the “Granddaddy of Them All.” The stadium has served as UCLA’s home stadium since 1982 and holds some of the sport’s greatest moments — five Super Bowls, numerous World Cup matches, Summer Olympic events, BCS national title games and many more. A visit to this eye-popping stadium is an unforgettable experience as fans are located among the San Gabriel Mountains in Arroyo Seco. The views of the vivid color of the field compared to the mountains are spectacular.

Bryant-Denny Stadium, University of Alabama

Home of the Alabama Crimson Tide is named in honor of George Denny, the school’s president from 1912 to 1932 and Paul “Bear” Bryant, longtime football coach. The stadium has a seating capacity of 101,821 and is the fourth-largest stadium in the SEC. The fans, pride, city and food make for an enjoyable fan experience.

Tiger Stadium, LSU

Commonly known as Death Valley, Tiger Stadium is one of the loudest, most rabid atmospheres on game days. LSU has one of the most daunting home-field advantages and is one of the toughest places to play as the visiting team, especially during night games. Alabama coach Bear Bryant compared the stadium to being inside of drum. LSU packs more than 100,000 fans in its 102,321-seat stadium.

Michigan Stadium, University of Michigan

Michigan Stadium is The Big House for a reason — it is the largest college football stadium in the country and the third-largest sports venue worldwide. The stadium holds 107,601 seats, which means it is capable of holding enough people to rank on game days as the seventh-largest city in the state. There is no bad seat as each seat is configured to provide the best view of the field imaginable.

Beaver Stadium, Penn State

One of the best game days a Penn State fan looks forward to is the annual White Out game. What started as a student joke turned into a crowd-wide endeavor and is something you don’t want to miss. In 2010, Beaver Stadium became the first stadium to have its 106,572-seat interior in Google Street View. Make sure to climb Mount Nittany, a Penn State visit staple.
