The beachside city of Fortaleza has grown rapidly in the last few decades. With such growth comes an influx of incredible eateries. Here are just a few of the best the town has to offer.
Coco Bambu is a perennial favorite among locals and travelers alike with multiple locations in the city. The Brazilian seafood restaurant offers a large menu, fresh meals and an upscale atmosphere diners love. Live music is always playing in the background, and the interior features a beautiful bridge and pond as soon as you walk through the door.
Porpino Burger serves up burgers that rival any you’ll find in a classic American diner. The garlic sauce here is great on the burgers and fries, and the lively atmosphere offers a great spot to get to know locals and other tourists. The staff mostly speaks English, so ordering is a cinch.
Cabana del Primo is arguably the greatest steak restaurant in Fortaleza. Alongside perfect cuts of meat, you’ll find terrific wine and beer options and even some surprisingly excellent fish plates. The atmosphere is a tad luxurious, but not so much you’d feel out of place dressed in jeans and a shirt.
El Chancho is more of a street stall than an actual restaurant, but it offers some truly delicious burgers at a great price. The burgers are all homemade, and the chef will even offer alternative patties for those who don’t eat meat. The atmosphere is vibrant and friendly, making it a great place to meet new friends.
Centro das Tapioqueiras is a local gem that serves up the best tapioca in Brazil. This pancake-like creation can be eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and comes with many different toppings. While it might be seen as a time of dessert to some, it works perfectly as a full meal for many.
