Dinosaurs and irresponsibly placed windmills have been plaguing the mini golfer since day one, but their composure and concentration is never affected by such obstacles. Mini golf is perfect for dates, business meetings, family reunions and it’s much more laid back than its bigger brother. It’s no wonder it’s so popular for people of all ages. So, here are the top 5 mini golf courses in the States.
Pirate Island Golf
What mini golf course would be complete without an invasion of pirates? That’s why New Jersey’s Pirate Island Golf is one of the best around. This place is filled with intricately detailed pirate ships, tricky water hazards and animated pirates. If you lose your ball on this course, you’d better walk the plank as punishment.
Glowing Greens
Situated in downtown Portland, Glowing Greens is home to an indoor glow-in-the-dark mini golf course. Scary skeletons and creepy crawlies will try to put you off your shot, but don’t let them affect your scorecard. Try the 3D glasses for the full experience and this may be the most fun you’ve have had in a while.
Lincolnshire’s Par King
Known more commonly as “The Taj Mahal of mini golf,” Lincolnshire’s Par King in Illinois will put your every skill to the test. If you’re afraid of clowns, you had best avoid this one, but it does have a nine-foot-tall roller coaster-themed hole, so you have to weigh up your priorities here. Do you want to let a clown ruin your day? Or play a roller coaster-themed hole? I know what my answer is.
Lake George
Lake George in New York will treat you to a trip around the world with this golf course. Each hole follows a theme of a different location around the world, giving you a cultural experience without the expensive plane tickets.
Mayday Golf
Mayday Golf in South Carolina is where our trip nosedives to an end, coincidentally the theme of this golf course. To set the scene, the plane you are flying in crashes into a tropical island, and what else would any golfer do in that situation than to hit a few balls around? The holes consists of low flying rescue helicopters, dense forest and rushing waterfalls, and in short, this is one of the best courses around the States.
