Palazzo Vecchio For those more interested in history than art, a good place to start may be Palazzo Vecchio. The structure was originally founded in 1299 and was then later used by the famed Medici family, under which it was turned into a palace. Now, visitors can explore the architecture and exhibits focusing on life at a medieval court. Tours are available every day of the week, in a multitude of languages, for only a few euros.

Bargello National Museum

The Bargello National Museum acted as a fortress, police headquarters and prison over its long history. Now, travelers can visit the museum for a taste of the best Renaissance sculpture, including works by Michelangelo and Donatello. In addition to art, the museum also houses historic artifacts such as textiles, furniture, medals and other goods. The museum is open every day, 8:15 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Tickets are only €4.
