Queen of Tarts

With two locations, one on Dame Street and the other just around the corner on Cow’s Lane, Queen of Tarts has been a Dublin staple for more than a decade. While their Lavazza espresso and tea is undoubtedly good, the real draw is their mouth-watering, freshly baked pastries and cakes. Best For: Breakfast.

KC Peaches

Although each of KC Peaches’ four locations have slightly different menus, they can all be counted on for enjoyable food for any diet. Create your own salads and sandwiches, select from the kitchen menu, pick and choose from a la carte items at a hot bar or get a pastry and a coffee to go. Best For: Lunch or Dinner.

Bewley’s Grafton Street Café

This iconic café has two levels of seating in beautiful, classically decorated rooms, making just sitting in Bewley’s an experience. With 28 desserts to choose from, including Bewley’s signature sticky toffee pudding, pair your sweets with one of their 100 percent Arabica coffees and have the best after-dinner experience of your life. Best For: Dessert.

The Bald Barista

Buzz Fendall a.k.a. The Bald Barista has two cafés, one on Aungier Street and one on St. Stephen’s Green, and he takes his coffee seriously. His signature FIXX blend, which was developed with Café de Cuba, has been lauded by many as the best espresso in Dublin. Plus, who doesn’t love great latte art? Best For: Gourmet Espresso.

3FE

Located in Dublin’s trendy Grand Canal Dock area, 3FE has been gaining attention lately for their signature blends. With rotating options for espresso and filter coffees that change every week, and a staff including award-winning baristas, 3FE is worth travelling off the beaten path. Best For: Something Different.

In fact, many spots across the country provide some of the best opportunities to stargaze thanks to low levels of light pollution. Ireland has three International Dark Sky Parks and even more spots which, although not accredited, are worth a visit for anyone wishing to see the sky in its unfiltered form.
