Asbury Park
With several public transportation options nearby, Asbury Park is within easy access for travelers coming from the New York area. Dog owners, feel free to bring your favorite pooch — dogs are allowed off the leash at the Eighth Avenue Dog Park. Asbury Park is a popular beach for LGBT visitors.
Brigantine
This peaceful and pristine beach located in Atlantic County offers many family-friendly restaurants and activities. If you have an itch to try your luck gambling, Atlantic City is about a five-minute drive away.
Cape May
Besides a beautiful waterfront, the far southern beach boasts classic Victorian-style homes and charming bed and breakfasts. Cape May is also home to the popular Cape May Zoo and Cape May Brewing Company.
Island Beach State Park
Experience wildlife and fishing at Island Beach State Park. The area boasts 10 miles of beach and lush forests. Keep in mind: There is a vehicle fee to get into the park. Seaside Heights is a quick drive away, if you want to experience a boardwalk after your wildlife adventure.
The Wildwoods
The five-mile stretch of free beaches in The Wildwoods is an ideal spot for fun in the sun. The extensive boardwalk is a big draw during the summer months.
